Drawing the future of advanced therapies
In 2014 I was hired to help my colleagues at Solebury Trout and the investors we advise to better understand cancer immunotherapy. One of the very first meetings I had was with Zelig Eshhar, an Israeli Immunologist who has been called the father of CAR-T cell therapy, Zelig left me with a wealth of information and a small hand-drawn diagram to explain CAR-T.
I framed that diagram, and put it on my desk. As more scientists came to visit us, they would contribute to this little gallery of CAR-T’s. Within 2 years I had accumulated nearly 50 drawings. The cartoons tell a story, of the changing achievements and challenges in the field, and of the sheer breadth of creativity and inventiveness that a simple cartoon can offer about something as complex as cancer immunotherapy. Viewed together, they paint an interesting picture of the future of this field, and it’s one I can’t wait to share with the Phacilitate Talks audience.
